The Ohio Auto & Truck Recyclers Association was awarded the prestigious “2013 Affiliate Chapter of the Year” award from the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) at the 70th Annual ARA Convention & Exposition in Phoenix, Arizona, November 7-10, 2013. The award honors an affiliated chapter of ARA that has shown exemplary dedication to the industry through their service and work on behalf of their members and the Association.
Chris Wright, now the immediate Past President of ARA, and owner of Capital Auto Parts, Inc., located in Thomasville, Georgia, said in his remarks, “Under the leadership of President Jim McKinney, the Ohio Auto & Truck Recyclers Association (OATRA) works continuously to ensure a fair and competitive business climate in Ohio for all of its members. The strong constituent relationships that OATRA members have with their elected officials has resulted in positive working relationships with state lawmakers, consumer advocacy groups, regulatory agencies, and other key stakeholders.”
“The achievements of OATRA have served as a model to others in the automotive recycling community and OATRA leaders have been a valuable resource to ARA and other state affiliate chapters as they have been more than willing to share their experience and help others fighting to promote and protect the professional automotive recycling industry. ARA awards the Ohio Auto and Truck Recyclers Association the Affiliate Chapter of the Year Award,” Wright said.
There are approximately 670 licensed salvage dealers in the state of Ohio, which is about 12 percent of automotive recyclers in the United States. There is strength in numbers and to continue a strong legislative representation, OATRA welcomes all to participate in the dialogue to protect the rights of professional automotive recyclers in Ohio. The association celebrated its 50th anniversary this year. To learn more about OATRA please visit www.oatra.net.
